Influence of Successive Chemical and Thermochemical Treatments on Surface Features of Ti6Al4V Samples Manufactured by SLM

Ti6Al4V samples, obtained by selective laser melting (SLM), were subjected to successive treatments: acid etching, chemical oxidation in hydrogen peroxide solution and thermochemical processing. The effect of temperature time etching on the surface roughness, morphology, topography phase composition after treatment was studied. surfaces characterized scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, diffraction contact profilometry. used had a greater influence features samples than time. Acid provided original SLM with new prior treatments. A nanostructure observed full process, both their protrusions pores previously formed during etching. After treatment, etched at 40 °C showed macrostructures additional submicro nanoscale topographies. When 80 used, presence micropores thicker anatase layer, detectable diffraction, also observed. These are expected generate levels bioactivity high biomechanics fixation implants as well better resistance fatigue.
